Internal Communications

Truist

Helping a remote team feel like one company again.

The brief

Truist is a Charlotte-based bank with small-town values and a team spread across the globe. With most of that team working remotely, leaders wanted communications that made employees feel connected to each other, and that cared about their wellbeing as much as the business news.

The results

Truist came away with a communications rhythm employees could count on, and a clear signal that leadership cared about the people behind the work.

The challenge

Remote work had made the company feel bigger and quieter. Employees were getting updates, not connection, and leadership needed a plan the whole C-suite could get behind.

Our approach

We spent six weeks listening before we wrote anything: employee surveys, focus groups about what was and wasn’t working, and tests of 20 different email subject lines and videos to see what people actually opened and clicked. Then we built the strategy around what we heard.

What we built

  • Five wellbeing areas to anchor internal communications

  • Weekly company-wide emails about upcoming events

  • Monthly town halls open to every employee

  • Two ongoing video series: one with speakers from across the company, one focused on wellbeing, with meditation, yoga and mindfulness

  • Scripts, interview subjects and a full rollout plan, aligned with the C-suite
